Boekteks: Paradiso Eerste Lessenaar is 'n kinderlessenaar wat ontwerp is vir teken, verf en kreatiewe spel. Die lessenaar is geskik vir kinders van een tot ses jaar oud. Die sitarea en die werkoppervlak is breed, sodat verskeie kinders die lessenaar saam kan gebruik. 'n Groot gleuf hou kryte en ander gereedskap, en 'n klein reservoir hou water vir verf. 'n Paneel onder die tafeloppervlak kan as 'n esel vir staande werk gebruik word. Die gleuf kan ook 'n tabletrekenaar veilig hou. Die lessenaar word van polipropileen vervaardig deur middel van plastiekspuitgietwerk, sodat die oppervlak maklik is om skoon te maak.

Wenners in Brons is ruimskoots vaardige en opvallend kreatiewe artefakte wat die groot ervaring, verbeelding en vindingrykheid van hul ontwerpers bevestig. Daar word verwag dat Paradiso First Desk Kinderlessenaar 'n hoog aangeskrewe, bewonderde en gekoesterde voorwerp is wat merkwaardig professioneel en innoverend is. Hierdie ontwerp wat die A' Design Award in Brons gewen het, inkorporeer die beste praktyke in kuns, wetenskap, ontwerp en tegnologie en is uitstekend vanweë sy aandag aan detail. Unieke Eienskappe: For this baby desk we wanted to incorporate multiple functions. First of all it needs to be a comfortable creative tabel for children from 1year tot 6 year. We made the design extra roomy for childrens so it is big enough to cover multiple years of use. The seating area and creative space is big enough to use with multiple children. And a very big slot to stash crayons etc and even a water recervoir for paint.
Below the table surface there is an extra panel which can be used as an easel, a perfect tool for children to make drawings or paintings standing up. This feature als makes it possible to use it with multiple children and an array of play possibilities.
Another smart feature we included in the design is the possibility to safely place an ipad in the slot, so the children can use the baby desk to watch movies, but also to use the ipad as an example artwork to draw or paint from.
The product is made in Polyprop, which makes it very easy to clean, even if children want to draw or paint on the table itself, nothing will stick to the material.

There is no packaging, this is a product that is stacked on a europallet.
Very efficient stacking for optimal transport and very limited carbon foodprint.

Ontwerpuitdaging: The most difficult part was the floating seat and table design setup translating into a injection moulded product. We wanted a product that was strong enough and can last multiple generations. But also use less plastic material. We needed several iterations, strength analysis and concepts of building to end up with a product that ticked all of the boxes. Now we have a very strong, lightweight product with optimal stacking. Wich results in a better production price and optimized transport. That is also helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the product. And a very affordable product for the user.
Navorsing: We used our Studio methodology of product design. We start with the empathy fase, where we research the market and target audience. Resulting in a designbrief and timeline.
After that we have ideation and a lot of digital sketching concepts to explore all the possible options. In consultation with the client we choose a concept and direction for 3D modelling and detailing. During this phase there is a lot of testing with children to see what works and what not and what they prefer and what not.
Last fase is the translation and detailing for injection moulding and strength analysis.
Inspirasie: We were looking for something completely different in the children plastic furniture area. We didn't want a new animal styling product, we wanted a baby desk that could be integrated into the modern interiors and therefore being used more often by parents and toddler. Most of the existing products are designed around an animal theme. Our client wanted to focus on modern interiors to blend in and therefor being used more often.
The design needs to be lightweigt for commercial and ecological reasons, but also for the baby and toddler being able to move it himself.
We wanted a look very different then existing plastic injection moulded products. This is a very difficult task because for a plastic injection moulded product for mass production the rules are very strickt. It was really a very challenging process to design a product that looks very lightweight and floating look and feel , while we also managed to make it very strong and lasting multiple generations.
Projekduur: The project started in Februari 2019 and ended in januari 2020, in Antwerp.
The prototype of the product will be shown for the first time in the Spielwarenmesse in Nurnberg in March of 2020.
