O designu Icy Sklenice na koktejly

Icy je sklenice na koktejly navržená pro chlazené nápoje a vrstvené koktejly. Každý kus je ručně foukaný do úst v ateliéru ve Finsku a tvarovaný v dřevěné formě. Starobylá benátská technika vytváří popraskaný ledový povrch, zatímco tvar vychází z moderní skandinávské jednoduchosti. Okraj je dokončen plamenem pro hladkou hranu. Sklenice má průměr 80 mm a výšku 100 mm, což jí v ruce dodává pevný pocit. Každá sklenice je podepsaná a očíslovaná. Cílem je vytvářet odolné každodenní předměty, které vydrží desítky let.

The design philosophy in Icy series is to create elegant, timeless and durable everyday objects with soul. An important part of the value base of the objects is to preserve and enliven the disappearing craftsmanship of studio made glass.
Rozměry a balení: The diameter of the Icy glass is 80 mm and heigh 100 mm. The dimensions are designed so that the tumbler offers a sturdy feel in the hand and the capacity of the glass is suitable for modern designer drinks.

Výrobní technologie: The ancient Venetian glass blowing tecnique for creating the crackled icy surface is combined with fresh 3D designed Scandinavian shape. The piece is blown into a wooden mold. The rim finishing is made with a flame, for creating smooth and high quality finish. Icy glasses are studio made, mouth blown glass. Glasses are signed and numbered.
Designová výzva: The creative challenge was to combine Venetian tradition with modern simplicity in order to create harmony. The main technique in the process is crackling the glass. It was vital to find the perfect structure, so that the effect remain elegant and the surface is resistant. Durability and performance of the object were important goals in the process. Combination of techniques made the object extremely durable, which is important in drinking glasses designed to last for decades.
Výzkum: The starting point of the process has been to design objects that the user attaches emotional value to. Glasses are made to last for decades. The contrasts in nature and the way they create harmony is desired to be captured in the collection. The rhythm of the glass making process ensures that each object has a individual texture that mimics the movement of the frozen ice.
Inspirace: The Icy Cocktail Glass is inspired by Northern nature and the different states of ice. The project combines ancient Venetian tradition with modern Scandinavian simplicity and usability.

The main aim of the design has been to create future classics, objects that are more than mere drinking glasses. Each studio made piece has unique charisma that is based on the subtle details of the object.

The use of the medium is based on the optical properties of glass. Therefore the lively shadows and reflections are important part of the interaction with the glass. The capacity of the drinking glass is aimed for classic drinks and it is specially suitable for layered designer cocktails.
