Über Dongyi Dunhuang Hotel

Dongyi Dunhuang ist ein Hotel in der Nähe der Wüste in Dunhuang, Gansu, China. Der Entwurf greift traditionelle nordwestchinesische Bauweisen der Region auf, etwa die örtlichen Lehmmauern und die Trockenhäuser. Die Wände bestehen aus Stampflehm, der aus lokal gewonnenem Lehm hergestellt wurde, sodass das Hotel ruhig wirkt und scheinbar aus der umgebenden Landschaft herauswächst. Die Grundstücksfläche beträgt 41.541 Quadratmeter, die Gebäudefläche 10.299 Quadratmeter. Der Entwurf folgt der Idee eines stillen Rückzugsortes. Die Gäste können sich erholen und dabei die Geschichte sowie die Naturlandschaft von Dunhuang erleben.

Produktionstechnologie: The architectural design of Dongyi Dunhuang continues the thinking of the spiritual life of scholar-officials. Projektdauer: The project started in April 2018 in Dunhuang and finished in June 2021 in Dunhuang.

When introducing the Dongyi Dunhuang project, Chen Xiangjing, the chief designer of the Newsdays, expressed his expectations for Dunhuang. After many boutique hotel design practices, this stage seems to be the most mature time to explore the "possible Dunhuang". Dongyi Dunhuang is the base for finally realizing this "possibility".
