Acerca de Dream Lámpara de mesa

Dream es una lámpara de mesa diseñada para ofrecer una luz ambiental suave. La base tiene la forma de una almohada y está fabricada en hormigón, mientras que el difusor es un globo de vidrio soplado a mano en Venecia. El hormigón suele percibirse como un material duro, frío y pesado, por lo que la forma se modeló para parecer blanda, ligera y cálida. Un innovador método de moldeado y un hormigón de grano muy fino confieren a la superficie una textura uniforme, sin burbujas visibles. La lámpara mide 24 por 24 por 14 centímetros y utiliza una bombilla G9 regulable, de modo que la luz cálida puede ajustarse.

Tecnología de Producción: Through an innovative molding method and a particular type of very fine-grained concrete, we were able to obtain a unique shape that breaks the shemes and the usual stiffness of concrete.
The diffuser is obtained from a blown glass globe, handmade by the best glass masters of Venice.
Desafío de Diseño: We were looking for a clever way of using concrete as main material for a table lamp. Our aim was to disconnect from the cold and solid sensation received from concrete.
Investigación: Starting from a deep research on small table lamps, we focused then on understanding which could be the right kind of light source.
Because the aim of this product is not to be a reading lamp, but to be an ambient lamp, the diffused light is the right choice.
What consumers are looking for in this category, is something that can warm up the environment. So concrete had to disconnect from the cold feeling that usually creates, and light had to be warm and dimmerable.
Inspiración: Concrete as a material is always associated in the collective imagination with something hard, cold and heavy. In MrSmith Studio we believe that the role of the designer should be also to break the schemes and subvert the collective imagination, suggesting new interpretations.
This is why we modeled concrete to give it a soft, enveloping, light and warm shape.
Duración del Proyecto: Development of the project took 6 months and has been entirely don in MrSmith Studio
Flujo de Operación: The project of Dream started with a deep research on concrete moulding techniques.
We've made several trials for defining the best material both for the mould, the concrete and the procedure.
The final result is a soft looking pillow, with a uniform fine grain an no bubbles visible.
