Il existe de nombreuses publications sur le mobilier en Croatie, mais une grande partie s'adresse à un public professionnel. Avec le livre About Furniture, l'objectif était de créer un manuel complet qui constitue une ressource précieuse aussi bien pour les étudiants que pour les experts. Ce manuel fournira des informations fondamentales mais pertinentes sur l'histoire, la catégorisation et les principaux designers de meubles, ce qui en fait un outil fréquemment référencé pour ceux qui recherchent une compréhension fondamentale du sujet. Tous les dessins sont réalisés à la main par Diana Sokolic.

Technologie de Production: There were more than 300 drawings made by professional artist Diana Sokolic, but only 140 are used in the book in order to make it simple, short, and informative. Huge research was undertaken to present basic and relevant information about characteristics of the furniture history styles, authors and their works.
Défi de Conception: Finding relevant information about women designers was the most challenging part of the research. Their work and lives are hidden under the names of factories or architects and their studios, especially in Croatia, where educated women designers worked for a monthly pay designing brilliant pieces under the name of the factory they worked for.
Recherche: Researching for the book was long and it took over 7 months since the goal was to give the most important information about the history of furniture and most relevant authors, especially highlighting the work of female authors who were working in big corporations or studios, anonymously until today.
Inspiration: There are many books about furniture in Croatia, but most of them are written for professional use. The idea was to fill the gap by making a handbook with the basic information, a book for students as well as scholars; the book that will be used often to get the first but relevant information about the history, types, or authors of furniture.
Durée du Projet: This project started in Zagreb, Croatia, during Covid-19 lockdown time - the ideal time for studying and writing the book in peace. It was finished the same year, but, due to import and printing problems caused by Covid-19 and the war in Ukraine - publishing was delayed until the end of 2022.
The book was published with the support of the Croatian Ministry of Culture.
