Sobre Flora Ilustración

A flora é unha ilustración de fantasía para promover a creatividade e a narración do artista, que representa a floración da microbiota gastrointestinal fertilizada polo ambiente gástrico enceso. A floración está representada por pétalos de Bacteroidetes, Bifidobacteriam e Enterococcus, pistiles de Lactobacillus e estames de Enterococcus faecalis encaixados en talos de Escherichia coli. A flor xorde en talos de Clostridium. Bacillus Cereus, as bacterias en forma de vara longa que se atopan no seu estadio arthomitus están unidas por fibras ao epitelio intestinal, crecen filamentosamente e esporulan.

Propiedades Únicas: Creating a visual pun on the idea that gastric flora might be blossoming flowers in the digestive tract, the artist set out to create a flower composed of the bacteria found in the gut.

Tecnoloxía de Produción: Created using Cinema 4D, a 3D modeling program, and Photoshop on a Mac.
Reto de Deseño: Creating a flower that both looked like a flower, but was also easily recognized as being constructed of recognizable bacteria required a creative balance between the two.
Investigación: The artist researched the common bacteria, called flora, of the gut. The artist studied electron micrographs depicting these different bacteria, and created 3D models of the different bacteria. The artist arranged the 3D-modeled bacteria to construct a flower, using different bacteria for different parts of the flower. The churning gastric juices and primordial environment of the gut comprises the environment from which the flower grows. The flower springs forth from the microvilli found in the lining of the small intestine.
Inspiración: The artist is a certified medical illustrator working in the advertising and marketing of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Self promotional work created for clients, and prospective clients, is a chance to promote the artist's creativity, artistry and storytelling skills in visual science.
Duración do Proxecto: The project was in development for three weeks at the artist's studio in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, USA.
Fluxo de Operacións: The illustration is meant to be enjoyable and memorable by playing on the pun of gastric flora.
