More About Zero Track Light
Zero is a track light designed for magnetic track systems. The circular form of Zero refers to the symbol of zero, representing both beginning and infinity. A magnetic mounting system allows fast installation on the upper or the lower side of a track, for ceiling, wall or pendant use. A rotation mechanism adjusts the direction of the light beam. LEDs with a colour temperature of 3000 K and a matte white diffuser give comfortable, glare free light across a wide 180 degree beam angle. The module uses 10 W and gives 550 lumens.
About Alexey Danilin
Born in 1987. Graduated from university with a degree in fine arts. Started working in 2010 as an interior designer for French decorator Vanina Boudet. Later continued my career as an event designer and decorator. The designer's New Year decorations were published in the book "Holiday Design - FESTIVE&JOYFUL" by Send Points publishing house. Later Alexey tried himself as a contemporary artist. He exhibited his works at the Youth Biennale of Contemporary Art with the installation "Futuristic Cross", which then decorated the Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. He designed the Shell sofa transformer, for which he won his first Red Dot award.
Award Record
With this recognition, Alexey Danilin is a winner of 18 A' Design Awards. The awards span the editions from 2021 - 2022 to 2025 - 2026 of the A' Design Award & Competition.

About A' Design Award & Competition
A' Design Award & Competition is an international, juried design accolade organized annually since 2008. The competition is open to entries from all countries. The A' Design Award has a philanthropic mission to advance society through good design by recognizing and promoting superior products, projects and services that benefit society, and by creating a global awareness and appreciation for good design practices and principles. Entries are peer reviewed and anonymously evaluated by an international grand jury panel of established academics, design professionals and press members against predetermined criteria such as functionality, ergonomics, engineering, presentation, innovation, usability, sustainability and technology, with score normalization applied to remove biases. Awards are conferred at Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron levels. The A' Design Prize granted to eligible laureates includes the award trophy, the certificate of design excellence, the hardcover yearbook, a lifetime license to use the A' Design Award winner logo, exhibition of awarded works, an invitation to the gala night and award ceremony in Italy, inclusion in the World Design Rankings and Designer Rankings, and public relations and publicity services. Registration, the upload of a work and the preliminary score are free of charge, and Professional and Digital Edition laureates are not contractually obliged to pay further fees to claim the A' Design Prize. Design Details
- Unique Properties
- The ZERO track light stands out as an exceptional example of modern lighting design, where engineering precision meets aesthetic innovation. Its distinctive circular shape symbolizes endless creative possibilities, while the magnetic mounting system offers unparalleled flexibility in installation and positioning. The combination of powerful Lumileds LEDs 3000K and a matte white diffuser creates comfortable, glare-free illumination with a wide 180-degree beam angle.
- Inspiration
- The ZERO collection merges design and engineering excellence in track lighting. Its circular shape, inspired by zero, symbolizes both the beginning and infinity. This concept reflects the historical significance of zero, first used around 300 BC. Highly versatile, the fixtures integrate seamlessly into track systems for pendant, ceiling, or wall installations. Their standout feature is easy installation — mounting takes seconds on any track side.
- Research
- Prior to the luminaire design initiation, an extensive market analysis of competitors and analogues in the track lighting sector was conducted. The research included comprehensive evaluation of various installation methods’ advantages and disadvantages. A detailed cost analysis of mould production processes was performed to ensure economic feasibility. The development phase concluded with testing of 3D-printed prototypes to validate design concepts and functionality.
- Challenge
- During the conceptual development phase, the designer explored numerous geometric forms, ultimately selecting the fundamental circular shape due to its symbolic association with the sun as a primary light source. Despite the prevalence of circular elements in existing lighting designs, the designer successfully differentiated the product by integrating functional mounting and rotation components, resulting in an innovative ring configuration with a deliberate gap.
- Realization and Technology
- The development project aimed to engineer a universal modular lighting fixture for magnetic track systems, prioritizing ergonomic installation procedures and innovative structural design distinct from conventional track lighting solutions. Engineering specifications emphasized cost-efficient production with minimal moulding requirements, affordable manufacturing processes, and an integrated rotation mechanism enabling precise beam direction adjustment for targeted illumination in residential applications.
- Operation and Interaction
- The luminaire is designed for integration with magnetic track systems, enabling both upper and under-track mounting configurations. Featuring a rotatable mechanism, it allows precise adjustment of light direction to meet specific illumination requirements. This versatile lighting solution is suitable for residential and commercial applications, providing both accent lighting and soft, diffused ambient illumination through its frosted diffuser element.
- Project Duration and Location
- The project started in January 2025 in Moscow and finished in September 2025 in Moscow, and was exhibited in Interlight in October 2025.
- Specifications
- The luminaire has the following technical parameters: length 190 mm, width 33 mm, height 190 mm, equipped with LED module with power consumption 10 W, luminous flux 550 lm, colour temperature 3000 K.
