Mother Earth 写真作品について

『マザーアース』は、地球を病んだ女性の姿として人間の形で表現したスタジオポートレート写真である。メイクアップには緑、青、茶の色調を用い、海洋、植物、土壌を表している。モデルの頭上には枯れゆく花びらを配し、病を暗示している。モデルの表情は悲しみと脆さを伝える。ライティングは、モデルに向けた大型オクタボックス1灯と背景用の1灯によって構成された。最終画像はデジタル編集ソフトウェアによって仕上げられている。本作は環境汚染を人間の感情と結びつけ、気候変動への注意を喚起するものである。

製造技術: I sketched the idea for the makeup artist to understand the concept. The colors are representation of nature, and the dead flowers on the head of the model to show that she is dying. I asked the model to show vulnerability and sadness. I used one big octabox on the model and one light on the backdrop.
デザインの課題: The hardest part of this project was to find an African model. At the time of making this project, modeling agencies wast not common. So finding a model of a specific look was difficult.
リサーチ: How earth would look like in a human form is the main is the core of this project. So, I mainly used google to view other artist approach of this concept, to get inspiration. The I did sketches of my own to show them to the makeup artist so she could understand my vision. I decided to hire an African model since Africa is the most connected with nature than others. I used dying petals as a representation of sickness. The green, blue and brown ware used as the colors of nature.
インスピレーション: When I was a kid winter used to be colder and longer. Climate is actually changing due to global worming. Mother earth is dying and we are the ones responsible for that. So I though to represent planet earth as a sick woman waring nature, with makeup inspired by oceans, plants and soil. I choose an African model, as for me, Africa is the closest place on earth to pure nature.
プロジェクト期間: The photograph took around 3 hours for the makeup and shooting in studio and 2 hours of retouching. It was shot in Kuwait 2015.
オペレーションフロー: Mother Earth photograph main perps is to engage with the viewers emotionally. So the best way to view this photograph is to look hard to the model's face and try to read her emotions.
