Good Day 셰이즈 라운지 체어 소개

Good Day는 휴식을 위해 디자인된 셰이즈 라운지 체어입니다. 좌석은 사형 주조 알루미늄으로 제작되었으며, 보다 묵직한 주조 다리가 지지하는 알루미늄 크로스바에 매달려 있어 좌석은 가볍게 떠 있는 듯 보이는 반면 베이스는 안정적으로 자리를 잡습니다. 얇은 좌석을 보강하기 위해 내부 스틸 프레임을 주조 시 함께 삽입했습니다. 가죽 패드는 몰드 위에서 성형되어 바느질이나 이음매가 전혀 드러나지 않습니다. 주조물과 패드에 내장된 자석이 패드를 단단히 고정하는 동시에, 세척이나 가죽 교체를 위해 손쉽게 분리할 수 있도록 합니다. 의자의 크기는 너비 635mm, 깊이 1600mm, 높이 830mm입니다.

고유 특성: The aluminum seat is suspended from an aluminum crossbar and leg structure. The leather pads are formed to produce a clean look without stitching or seams.

생산 기술: The aluminum seat and legs are sand cast aluminum. The seat and legs are painted or polished depending on the look. The seat pads have a vacuum formed backer laminated with foam. The leather is formed over a mold to achieve a clean look. Magnets are embedded in the casting and seat pad to keep the pads secure to the frame and allow for easy removal for cleaning.
디자인 과제: The structure of the aluminum frame suspended under a leg structure proved an interesting engineering challenge. Creating the seat frame from cast aluminum was not only heavy, but also not structurally sound. An internal steel frame weldment was designed to be cast in place with the aluminum casting. In order to achieve pads without stitching or seams, forms were created to wet form leather into the seat shape. The leather was then adhered to the leather pads for a clean stitch free look to match the simplicity of the aluminum frame.
연구: An ergonomic model was created that allows for adjustment of length and angle of the seat, leg, back and lumbar. Adjusting the angles and length of the components allowed for the geometry to be tested by various users for maximum comfort. The chaise lounge is an experiential chair where the focus is on the comfort for relaxation. The seat and back angles were selected to give the user a sense of suspension and solitude while relaxing in the chair.
영감: The Good Day was inspired by two artists recording a song in the music studio. The two complimented each other’s artistic styles with a play between powerful and smooth. Watching them create, I sketched a low-lying lounge chair with a thin floating seat suspended under a crossbar attached to heavier structural legs. The seat would appear light and floating, yet grounded by the thicker leg structure.
프로젝트 기간: The lounge chair was first sketched February 2020 in a recording studio in Seattle, Washington USA. The prototype was completed in Seattle in September 2021.
운영 흐름: The lounge chair is static, but the leather pads are removable for cleaning and maintenance. The removable pads also provide the ability to change the look of the lounge chair with alternate leather colors or materials. The pads are held in place by magnets embedded in the aluminum frame and pads.
