Dreamscape 멀티미디어 설치 작품 소개

드림스케이프(Dreamscape)는 홍콩 K11 뮤제아(K11 Musea)의 보헤미안 가든에 설치된 멀티미디어 설치 작품이다. 조각적인 형태는 지면 위에 떠 있는 듯 보이며 일정한 간격으로 안개를 분사한다. 멀리서 바라보면 드림스케이프는 구름에서 솟아오르는 빛나는 흰 조개껍데기처럼 보인다. 가까이 다가가면 세 개의 아치가 지면에 가볍게 닿는 여섯 개의 가느다란 다리 위에 얹혀 있다. 내부에는 250개가 넘는 조명 버블 램프가 설정된 조명 프로그램에 따라 점멸한다. 사용된 소재는 내후성이 뛰어나고 내구성이 높으며 가벼우며, 구조물은 운송과 재조립을 위해 해체할 수 있다.

고유 특성: Dreamscape is a voluptuous sculptural form that appears to float above the K11 MUSEA Bohemian Garden. It regularly disperses mist, thus, from afar, it appears as an illuminated white shell emerges from a billowing cloud, tempting guests to engage in a relaxing urban misty moment. Up close, three arches are anchored onto six feet that touch the ground lightly, emphasizing an ephemeral shared experience. Once inside, the 250 illuminated bubble lamps are timed to evoke dreaming in a sleeping cloud.

생산 기술: All materials had to be weatherproof, durable and light for outdoor display. The structure had to be designed for easy disassembly, transportation and reassembly. Placement of the 250+ illuminated bubbles were carefully calibrated so that they are ergonomically friendly while visually appealing. The light programme and wring of bubbles posed another challenge as it had to give the illusion of a sleeping cloud, and work in line with the mist performance that happens every 20 minutes.
디자인 과제: Dreamscape serves all ages, so we had to consider how different groups react. Children tend to run underneath, while adults usually prefer to stand and look at it. It had to be safe, and accessible to wheelchairs and walkers. It is open day and night, so we have focused on how different lighting combined with mist can create dissimilar, but mesmerizing experiences. Positioning each bubbles lamp had to be both visually pleasing and ergonomically safe.
영감: Dreamscape, is a portmanteau word, blending and combining ‘dream’ and ‘escape’ to encapsulate our commitment to design a pause for busy minds by moving visitors from reality into ambiguity. We hope our playful multi-sensory sculptural design will make visitors dream in another dimension, and that this is more important than ever with the current limits on travel - we want people to imagine and dream the impossible. Dreamscape represents an exciting utopia and freedom, available to all.
프로젝트 기간: The installation has been on display since September 2021 until March 2022 in K11 MUSEA, Victoria Dockside, Hong Kong. It will then be transported to other K11 premises around China.
