Promotion 다이닝 체어 소개

프로모션(Promotion)은 북미산 블랙월넛으로 제작된 다이닝 체어이다. 디자인은 나이테가 드러나는 목재의 마구리면(단면 결)에서 영감을 얻었다. 작은 마구리면 정사각형들을 이어 붙여 체스판과 유사한 패턴을 이루도록 했다. 맞춤 제작된 장부맞춤 구조가 프레임의 안정성을 유지하는 동시에 형태는 간결하게 남는다. 생산에는 CNC 조각 가공이 사용되었으며, 표면은 우드 왁스 오일로 마감되었다. 서로 다른 각도로 절단된 단면들은 부드러운 명암 효과를 만들어낸다. 이 의자는 레스토랑, 주거 공간, 라운지에 두루 어울린다.

디자인 과제: The challenge is to keep the whole structure stable with a simple shape. To make it, the product has a customized mortise and tenon structure to keep the structure stable and add some decors to details. Sections with different angles present various light and shadow effects, presenting a profound feeling and soft reflective effect.
연구: If its end grain seat is compared to a chess board, this simple chair can be seen as a pawn with no dramatic shape. But even a pawn, as long as he keeps going, can become a bishop, a knight, a castle, or even a queen when he reaches the end line, which is called Promotion.
영감: The product is inspired by the end grain (tree ring) of wood with unique touch and texture, unlike the section of conventional wood furniture. This Promotion chair is made of small end grain squares putting together in order with the customized mortise and tenon structure presenting the aesthetic feeling of chessboard, standing out from conventional wood furniture.
프로젝트 기간: The project was launched in Beijing in June 2019, completed in Henan in June 2022 and exhibited in Beijing's Caochangdi Art District in November 2022
