Mō Rackson House Whare Tari Mahi
Ko te Rackson House he whare tari mahi i hangaia mai i te whakahoutanga o tētahi hanganga tawhito i George Town, Penang, Malaysia. Kei roto i te poraka o mua tōna tuanui tuku iho, tōna whakamahau, ngā matapihi kōpiko me ngā arawhata, ā, e mau ana ngā wāhi matua. Kua kuhuna he wāhanga hou o te rino me te karaihe, kāore i pā ki ngā pakitara tawhito, ā, e kitea tonu ana ērā pakitara me ngā tohu o ngā whakarōpūtanga o mua.

The existing block is developed with a more closed character, maintains the heritage roof, and houses the main programmatic spaces; while the new block consists mostly of servicing spaces and is developed with an open character, with greater height, and with a glass roof. The floor plan maintains its original heritage and flavor with elements such as verandah, bay windows and stairs that reminds of the building's history. The annex, a gallery and multipurpose space is separated by a subtle corridor right next to the building. The old walls are kept without any demolition, leaving in sight the details and traces from past times and interventions that have manifested since.
