Te Hoahoa

Mō Point Te Whakaata Pakitara

Kua hangaia tēnei whakaata e whakairihia ana ki te pakitara mō tētahi wāhanga whakairi pūmau e tā ana i tōna anga me tōna whakatakotoranga. Hei utu mō te huna i te taputapu whakapiri, ka waiho e te hoahoa tēnei wāhanga kia kitea hei wāhanga o te anga. Ka iri te anga rākau mai i tētahi wāhanga e whakairihia ana ki te pakitara, ā, ka honoa mā tētahi taipitopito porowhita. Mā tēnei huarahi anga ka māmā te whakaurunga, i te wā e mau tonu ana te hononga mārama i waenga i te āhua, te anga, me te mahi, e huri ai tētahi wāhanga whakairi e hiahiatia ana hei wāhanga o te hoahoa.

Te Whakamihi

Mō te A' Design Award Parahi

Āhuatanga Motuhake
Point is a mirror design mounted to the wall through a single fixed point. The hanging mechanism, traditionally concealed, is placed at the center of the design and made visible. The solid wood frame is suspended from a single wall-mounted element and remains balanced and stable through a circular connecting component. This system simplifies installation and turns the structural detail into a defining element of the design.
Inenga & Pēketanga
Product dimensions: 1200 mm (H) × 540 mm (W) × 115 mm (D). The frame is made from solid walnut and includes a droplet-shaped inner cutout. For shipping, the mirror is packaged in a protective box sized approx. 1300 mm × 620 mm × 195 mm, including foam padding and structural corner protectors to prevent breakage.

Hangarau Whakanao
The frame is CNC-milled from solid walnut and hand-finished with natural oil. The mirror surface is laser-cut to fit the inner contour, including a droplet-shaped opening for modular hanging. It features a wall-mounted base, a sliding frame system, and a locking wood peg. The mirror is bonded into the frame using adhesive for seamless integration.
Wero Hoahoa
The biggest challenge in the design process was cutting the mirror into a precise, non-standard shape that fit perfectly with the frame. This required a level of precision beyond standard methods. The issue was resolved by using high-precision CNC laser cutting technology.
Rangahau
This qualitative research focused on existing mounting methods in similar product groups. The aim was to provide a seamless installation experience. The process included research, sketching, 3D modeling, rendering, mock-up production, and prototyping. The final mounting system stood out with its ease of use and became a design element, offering a fresh and innovative perspective.
Whakaaweawe
The starting point of this design was to bring a commonly overlooked element to the center of the design process. The idea that the hanging mechanism could play an active role within the product, rather than remaining a purely technical detail, shaped this approach. User difficulties during installation—such as achieving correct alignment and drilling multiple holes—were identified as a key problem. Point responds to these challenges with a simple, functional, and structural solution.
Roanga o te Kaupapa
The project was designed in 2024 in Istanbul and was exhibited in September 2025 at the "New Horizon" exhibition during Furnishings and Design Istanbul (FDI).
Rerenga Mahi
The mirror is easily mounted by sliding the frame onto a wall-fixed base through its central cut-out, then locked with a small round wooden peg. This tool-free system offers effortless installation and a unique sense of comfort. Its clean form complements its ease of use, enhancing the spatial value of any interior it enters.
