Te Hoahoa

Mō Threshold Tēpu Kawhe

Ko Threshold he tēpu kawhe i hangaia mai i ngā papa whakarewa e honohono ana kia mau tonu ai te pūmau me te kore e whai i ētahi mea whakawira anō. He mea hanga te anga mai i ngā wāhanga rino i tukatukahia mā te Cnc me te pikonga tino tika ka rere ki ngā wāhi kua whakaritea mō te whakahiato kore utauta. Ko ngā kōwhiringa mata he rino kua paraihehia me te uhi paura mātā hei whakarite i te toitūtanga. E aro ana te hoahoa ki te ōwehenga, te mārama me te māmā o te whakauru, e whakaatu ana i tētahi āhua rino tōtika e tino pai ana mō ngā whare noho me ngā wāhi ā-roto ā-pakihi.

Te Whakamihi

Mō te A' Design Award Parahi

Ko Threshold Tēpu Kawhe te toa o te A' Design Award Parahi, he whakaaetanga tino whai mana e hoatu ana ki ngā hoahoa kōeke e tohua ana mā te auaha, te mahi mōhio me te whakaaro hōhonu. Ko ngā toa Parahi he mahi pukenga e rite ana, he auaha mīharo, e whakatūturu ana i te wheako nui, te whakaaro me te mōhio-ā-ringa o ā rātou kaihoahoa. E tūmanakohia ana ko Threshold Tēpu Kawhe he taonga whakanuia, whakamīharotia, aroha nui, he ngaio, he auaha hoki. Ko tēnei hoahoa i toa i te Parahi e whakauru ana i ngā tikanga pai rawa i te toi, te pūtaiao, te hoahoa me te hangarau, ā, he tino mīharo ki ngā taipitopito. Ka whakatutuki a Threshold Tēpu Kawhe i ngā hiahia, ka pā ki ngā hiahia, ka whakaoho i ngā kare-ā-roto, ā, ka kume i te pākiki.

Ngā whakamihi, ngā mema o te rōpū me ngā taipitopito hangarau i whakaratohia e te kaihoahoa.

Āhuatanga Motuhake
Threshold is a minimalist coffee table composed of interlocking metal planes that require no complex hardware for assembly. The structure relies on geometric precision and material integrity to achieve stability. Brushed stainless steel and matte RAL finishes enhance its sculptural clarity. The design combines structural honesty with intuitive assembly, creating a refined yet functional decorative object.

Hangarau Whakanao
The table is produced using laser cut stainless steel sheets, followed by precision bending and surface finishing. Brushed stainless steel or powder coated matte RAL color options are applied to ensure durability and visual consistency. The interlocking system is engineered to achieve structural rigidity without additional mechanical fasteners.
Wero Hoahoa
The main challenge was achieving structural rigidity without visible fasteners. Balancing material thickness bending tolerances and slot precision required multiple iterations. Production limitations such as metal flexibility and finishing consistency were carefully evaluated. The outcome resolves aesthetic clarity and engineering logic within a minimal form.
Rangahau
Type of Research Product design research. Research Objectives To explore structural stability through interlocking metal planes. Methodology Iterative prototyping and digital modeling. Data Collection and Research Tools Used CAD modeling structural tests and material studies. Participants Physical prototypes and load experiments. Results A stable tool free assembly system. Insights and Impacts The research demonstrates how minimal material intervention can generate durable and visually calm furniture solutions for contemporary interiors.
Whakaaweawe
Threshold was inspired by the concept of structural balance and the moment of transition between two planes. Influenced by earlier explorations of surface tension and geometric clarity, the design seeks to express stability through minimal intervention. The project investigates how interlocking components can create a calm architectural presence while maintaining simplicity and ease of assembly.
Roanga o te Kaupapa
The project started in February 2026 in Istanbul and was completed in February 2026 in Istanbul. The design was developed as a producible furniture piece under Studio Soldout.
Rerenga Mahi
Threshold is assembled by sliding the metal planes into each other through pre engineered slots. The interlocking geometry secures the structure without screws or additional tools. The interaction is intuitive and guided by the form itself. Once assembled, the table provides a stable surface while maintaining a visually lightweight appearance.
