- Makhalidwe Apadera
- The Thank You Bouquet is a site specific bamboo installation composed of 180 handwoven floral elements. It conveys the visual softness of flowers through the structural strength of bamboo, symbolizing unity and appreciation during the pandemic. Its gentle aesthetic and organic form create a sense of emotional intimacy at the scale of public art, inviting viewers to walk through the space and reflect in a tranquil atmosphere.
- Miyezo ndi Kuphimba
- The installation features 180 bamboo flowers with diameters ranging from 600 to 1200 millimeters. The supporting framework is constructed from lightweight bamboo engineered for strength and resistance to environmental conditions. Its modular system enables scalable adaptation to different spatial contexts, maintaining an organic visual rhythm while ensuring structural flexibility and logistical efficiency.
- Zizindikiro
- Bamboo weaving, installation art, public art, environmental art, floral sculpture, gratitude, contemporary craft, sustainable design, traditional techniques, Taiwan
- Teknoloji Yopangira
- Each flower is crafted using traditional Taiwanese bamboo weaving techniques, combined with modular structural design principles. High tensile bamboo strips are processed, steamed, and handwoven into floral forms. The modular framework provides structural integrity as well as ease of transport and reassembly, allowing the installation to adapt to diverse exhibition environments without compromising its visual delicacy.
- Vuto la Dizayini
- The primary challenge was balancing visual delicacy with structural strength. The natural pliability of bamboo required precise tension control and integrated support systems to maintain form. Adapting traditional weaving techniques for large scale, weather-resistant outdoor installation demanded modular design strategies. Overcoming these technical and cultural challenges enabled a seamless integration of tradition and contemporary innovation.
- Kafukufuku
- This project examined the integration of traditional bamboo weaving with contemporary art to create a meaningful public installation. The objective was to convey themes of sustainability, cultural heritage, and emotional resonance. Research involved studying historical weaving methods, testing material strength, and developing structural prototypes. The findings highlight the potential of bamboo in modern design and its capacity to promote social healing through artistic expression.
- Chilimbikitso
- Inspired by the resilience of nature and the symbolism of flowers as emblems of gratitude and renewal, The Thank You Bouquet reimagines the traditional craft of bamboo weaving. The installation transforms robust bamboo into delicate floral forms, evoking the enduring strength of human connection. Set within an urban context, it creates a contemplative space that honors frontline workers and encourages communal healing in times of crisis.
- Nthawi ya Polojekiti
- The project began in 2021 in Taipei and was exhibited at Daan Forest Park Square in 2022 as part of the We Together charity festival organized by PX Mart.
- Mdondomeko ya Ntchito
- Visitors are invited to walk among the bamboo flowers, observing how sunlight filters through the woven forms to cast shifting patterns of light and shadow. The immersive arrangement encourages slow movement, quiet reflection, and emotional connection. The installation transforms the surrounding environment into a contemplative space of gratitude and unity, offering a gentle pause during uncertain times.
