- Nanjing was known as Jinling in ancient times, it was the capital of six dynasties, and it is the thriving and prosperous capital of the Republic ofChina in modern times. Today it has become a modern city of diversification and tolerance. Nanjing's profound historical and cultural heritage and the unique Jiangnan residential architecture have provided a source of inspiration for this design.
