Mayelana ne-Ozz Isibani Elilengayo

Lo mklamo wesibani ugqugquzelwa isigqoko somthakathi futhi uqanjwe ngomunye wabathakathi abadumile kakhulu, u-Oz. Umklamo wawo usekelwe embonweni wokusebenzisa nje kuphela indingiliza njengesiqephu somklamo, eguqulwe ngokushintshashintsha kwamagagasi ahlukene ukuze kuchazwe isimo. Nakuba isithombe-mthunzi sihlala sifana ngokwengxenye ngesikhathi kubukwa kumibono ehlukene, ukushintshashintsha kwamakhava kunomthelela obucayi endleleni umuntu asebenzelana ngayo nesibani. Ukuzungeza kuso kudala umuzwa wokunyakaza okufana namagagasi kumbukeli.

Ozz Isibani Elilengayo iwinile uMklomelo Wensimbi we-A' Design Award, ukwaziswa okuhloniphekile okunikezwa imiklamo emihle ehlangabezana nezidingo zobungcweti nezemboni ezilindelekile ezimpahleni ezihlelwe kahle. Abawinile beNsimbi babonisa ikhono elikhulu, ubungcweti obuphezulu, ukuqonda kochwepheshe namandla okudala abadali babo. Ozz Isibani Elilengayo ilindeleke ukuba ibe yinto exatshwa kakhulu, edunyiswayo nethandwayo esebenzayo nenezinto ezintsha. Lo mklamo owinile uMklomelo Wensimbi we-A' Design Award uhlanganisa izindlela ezinhle kakhulu zemboni futhi unezimfanelo zobuchwepheshe ezifanelekile ezihlanganiswe nolwazi nethalente. Ozz Isibani Elilengayo iyahlonishwa ngenxa yokucophelela kwayo futhi ihlelelwe ukulethela izinguquko zomgangatho wempilo ezisiza ukwenza umhlaba ube yindawo engcono.

Izici Ezihlukile: This lamp’s form is defined by six curves based on the circle. The top and bottom circles are perfect circles, while the four in between ones are deformed and angled to create variation. Though the overall silhouette remains similar from different viewpoints, the shifting curves affect how the lamp interacts with ambient light across its’ surface.

Ubuchwepheshe Bokukhiqiza: The lamp design was made digitally and for its’ plaster mold production a prototype was 3d printed. Along with the prototype, the container that was used in order to place the prototype in and create the plaster mold, was also 3d printed. For this product, a small table that the mold can rest on, with a hole and a valve installed on its’ underside was used, in order to achieve a smooth drain out of the porcelain slip. This was done, in order to achieve the cleanest possible cast from a heavy mold, with the least amount of post clean-up.
Inselele Yokudweba: Although the design and mold-making part proved to be straightforward, the biggest challenge arose during the firing of the porcelain. Finding the right temperature and firing programme for an object that has a large rim and irregular edges required a fair amount of tests.
Ucwaningo: After designing the project and before jumping into its’ production, a prototype vessel was 3d printed in order to verify that an object with helical symmetry is in balance when suspended.
Ugqozi: This lamp design draws inspiration from the form of a wizard’s hat; specifically, a tightly cropped interpretation that omits the brim and crown, leaving only the essence of its conical silhouette.
Ubude Bephrojekthi: The product was designed in early 2025 and production started in the summer of 2025. The entire process took place in Istanbul, Turkey.
Ukuhamba Kokusebenza: The lamp’s size and opening allow for it to be used as the main form of illumination in a space. Its’ sharp wavy edges create a sense of motion, while its’ smooth but also angular form allow it to blend into many space with different interior styles.
