The team balanced reject water reduction, energy efficiency and taste personalization with manufacturable modular cartridges and serviceability. Building reliable self diagnostics that isolate a single failing element rather than triggering blanket filter changes required careful system design within cost and maintenance constraints.

- We studied water from many parts of India and spoke with families about what they consider “good tasting” drinking water. We tested samples, visited homes, and tried early versions of the purifier. Families also did blind taste checks. This helped define the main water situations and shape Intellon to adjust on its own, offer taste choices, and make service simple saving water and building trust.

- Intellon was inspired by the mismatch between highly variable household water quality and fixed, over treating purification systems. The project set out to deliver trustworthy, great tasting drinking water with substantially lower reject water, energy and service waste, while presenting a calm, hygienic form with glanceable feedback of vitals.
