Kuhusu Lacey Vikuku Vya Cuff

Sote tuna droo zilizojaa lace zilizotengenezwa na mama zetu na bibi. Doyley hizo zilitumika kama mapambo kwenye meza za kahawa, seti za televisheni, au viti vya mkono. Siku hizi, wana thamani ya kihisia, lakini hakuna matumizi. Diana Sokolic alifanya vikuku vya cuff na lace kati ya sahani mbili za Plexiglas za uwazi. Vipande vyema vilivyotengenezwa kwa upendo na subira vimepata tena kusudi lao la kuunganisha maisha yetu ya zamani na yetu ya sasa.

Lacey Vikuku Vya Cuff ni mshindi wa Tuzo ya Shaba ya A' Design Award, utambuzi wenye heshima kubwa unaotolewa kwa miundo bora inayotofautishwa kwa ubunifu, ustadi na busara. Washindi wa Shaba ni kazi za ufundi mwingi na bunifu ya kushangaza zinazothibitisha uzoefu mpana, mawazo na ustadi wa wabunifu wao. Lacey Vikuku Vya Cuff inatarajiwa kuwa kitu kinachothaminiwa sana, kupendwa na kuenziwa, ambacho ni cha kitaalamu na bunifu kwa kiasi kikubwa. Muundo huu ulioshinda Tuzo ya Shaba ya A' Design Award unajumuisha mbinu bora katika sanaa, sayansi, usanifu na teknolojia, na ni bora kwa umakini wake kwa undani. Lacey Vikuku Vya Cuff hutosheleza mahitaji kwa uzuri, hugusa hamu, huvutia hisia na kuvutia udadisi.

Sifa za Kipekee: Our great grandmothers and grandmothers were brought up to play piano, read poetry and make lace. In the 60ies, their daughters kept those lace doyleys under the glass on coffee tables and commodes. Now we have drawers full of lace and needlework. It has no use in modernly furnished flats, it hass just an emotional value.
I have made cuff bracelets with lace between two plates of transparent Plexiglas.
In this way the lace has kept its transparency, gained new use, at the same time recognizing the women who made it and those who kept it for us.

Teknolojia ya Uzalishaji: Lace and PMMA
I did not want to put delicate lace in a metal frame or any other heavy material. So I decided to put it between two pieces of transparent Plexiglas.
Changamoto ya Ubunifu: Since PMMA has to be heated in order to be bent, the most challenging part was how to heat it without burning the delicate threads of needlework and then how to connect the lace and the Plexiglas without the glue.
Utafiti: This project was technically the most diffucult one for me. I was affraid that I will burn the lace while experimenting with different temperatures in order to bent the PMMA, since I could not experiment with something else except the lace itself.
PMMA plates have to be really hot in order to stick to one another, while the lace is between the layers.
I had to find lace doyleys which are not to big because cuffs have to be weareable.
Msukumo: From time to time I open the drawer with lace and needlework kept between sheets of thin white paper. I look at them with love and patience, expecting to hear them talking to me. I know that those pieces want to be used again, that they want to show their beauty. And one day it just happened! They talked to me!

and the process lasted for several month.
